Yesterday, the NWHL hinted on social media that Team Kazakhstan forward Bulbul Kartanbay had signed a contract with one of the league’s five teams. Today, it became official. Kartanbay is a member of the Metropolitan Riveters. Just over two years ago Kartanbay created a Twitter account to show of her stickhandling skills and to share her dream by stating: “I want [to] play in USA.” Now, after coming so close to achieving that goal with the CWHL’s Boston Blades and spending last season training in Calgary, that dream has come true — roughly 5,900 miles away from where it began. “My dream came true … I am grateful to life for the opportunities that have opened before me. Now it’s time to compete in the NWHL among many of the top players in the world,” she said in the league’s press release. Kartanbay is the first Kazakh player to sign with the NWHL in the league’s brief history. She’s one of three international player to sign an NWHL contract this offseason. Hello iPhone 11 — new features we want from Apple on the next models

All-day battery and unbreakable glass, as always, top list. Improved selfies and better screen shots would be great. Apple announces on Sept. 10th. Apple said this week it will stage a media event on Sept.10th, which is when the company is expected to introduce three new editions of the iPhone.  As always, we have a wish list for features we’d like to see. Ready everyone? Let us count the ways.  —Battery. Of course, we start with the all-day battery. This is clearly something that could happen, if Apple wanted it. This will read like mumbo jumbo, but the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus has a battery at 4,100- mAh vs. 3,179 for the iPhone XS Max. The bigger numbers mean a longer-lasting battery. If Samsung could do it, surely Apple could figure out a way to give consumers more time without having to (always) charge. —Unbreakable glass.I know, this is a feature Apple doesn’t want us to have, or it would have done so by now.
